From May 2010 to September 2010 in Tacoma, WA, Jesse Miller dedicated her time and efforts to assist low-income students in accessing educational opportunities. Her role involved identifying students in need and managing grant payments to cover tuition and bus passes required for summer school attendance. By working directly with these students, Jesse helped them navigate and overcome various barriers to education, ensuring they had the support needed to succeed.

Jesse’s commitment extended beyond administrative tasks; she actively mentored a group of 15 students throughout their summer classes. Her guidance and support were instrumental in helping these students tackle challenges and stay motivated. As a result of her efforts, 13 out of the 15 students successfully completed their summer classes, marking a significant achievement for both the students and the program.

In recognition of her exceptional work with youth, Jesse was honored with the A. Philip Randolph Community Award in 2010. This accolade celebrated her outstanding leadership and her impactful contributions to the community. The award highlighted her dedication to enhancing educational opportunities for underserved youth and her role in fostering positive outcomes for the students she mentored.
