From January 2011 to January 2014, Jesse Miller served as the Chair of the Board for the Black Policy Foundation (BPF). Established in 2008 at the request of Senator Rosa Franklin and supported by the Commission on African American Affairs, BPF is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing the Black community’s autonomy and influence.
Under Jesse’s leadership, the Black Policy Foundation worked to align community organizations and individuals to advocate for policies that enhance the voice and impact of the Black community in decision-making processes throughout the State of Washington. The organization focused on fostering greater representation and influence in various spheres, from local governance to statewide policy development.
Jesse’s tenure as Chair was marked by efforts to strengthen the foundation’s role in policy advocacy and community engagement. She guided the organization through a period of growth and increased visibility, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to drive systemic change. Her leadership helped to elevate the foundation’s mission and expand its reach, ensuring that the Black community’s perspectives and needs were effectively represented and addressed in policy discussions and decisions.
